80070017 Error code Resolution

Hi
Just thought i would let you all in to know how i sorted the 80070017 Error code.
Firstly i installed vista on my laptop as a way to see if would absolutely moan and groan running on 256mb ram and pentium mobile 1.6GHz. It installed fine and after playing with drivers i got it working. As this was only a test try for me i thought as it works i will do a complete format on my laptop and put xp home on then upgrade to vista with it being perfectly clean.
Basically the jist of the story is i was getting error code 80070017 when trying to install it over xp home which i thought would of just been as easy as the first time. As other people on the forum mine would stop around the 32% mark and 76%.
After reading lots of forum's and through my trial and error i couldnt believe that any of the forum's were going to help because i used different dvd's, downloaded again, different drives etc. Then i realised it always worked better installing first thing in the morning. Thus coming to me realising also how hot my laptop would get so when i got home from work i put the worlds biggest fan blowing onto it and it installed fine.
So for people that are having problems still take into account the memory heat and cpu heat because i think the installation at certain parts checks them both and if there too hot will stop the installation to stop the hardware burning out.
Cheers
Graham

I too encountered this error installing on my laptop. I resolved it by first verifying my download and then re-burning the DVD at a lower speed. (2x, for some reason my software won't burn at 1x)
Just my $.02. Hope it helps someone.

I have a desktop with 2.9 GHZ and 512 of ram. The system has never shown any signs of heat problems. I do have a dual layer dvd rw and have read that this could be the culprit as for some reason Vista does has problems with the installation using this format. I wonder if ordering the disk would resolve this issue.

To be honest mate i really do not have a clue if that would work, i kept getting loads of problems like i said and non of them made any technically sounding sense. I never have had over heating problems before either, maybe not the cpu or memory heating, maybe the harddrive, im still sure it has something to do with that though

Well even when i put my laptop against my freezing airconditioning it would still fail to continue at 4%, so i doubt it has to do anything with heat in my case
I think 80070017 is just another general fault within windows... Same with the infamous blue screens, they are there, ut what to do with m?

Same with me I've tried 3 diferent machines with diferent CPU's (all intel) and diferent amounts of RAM (min 512Mb Max 1.5 Gb) with iso's burnt at different speeds, I haven't got past copying files at 13% before i get this message.
I think I'll give up, if it takes this much trouble to install the damn thing what sort of problems will it have when it's running?
